The March Challenge stories, with the theme of "Show Don't Tell" have now been posted. The theme was to write a story with no spoken dialogue, and the prompts were gestures which had to be included in the story. We’ve had 8 entries so far.

Rounded Up in the Woods by Dreamflower Merry and Pippin set out to capture the last of the Ruffians in the Shire
Snow on the Mountain by Linaewen Boromir and Aragorn struggle to make a path through the snow on the Caradhras mountainside.
"More Than Meets the Eye" by Shirebound At Bag End, Thorin catches a glimpse of Bilbo’s potential.
Too Good to Share, by Jay of Lasgalen Elladan is searching for something - but Elrohir keeps quiet.
Snowdrops, by Himring Valacar, prince of Gondor, is sent to Rhovanion to learn the ways of his father’s allies and falls in love with Vidumavi, the daughter of his host.
The Ambush by Larner The dog fox finds his family's rest disturbed one evening.
In His Hands by Rhymer Sometimes the most important things of all can be conveyed without a word. A soldier of Gondor, serving under Captain Thorongil, is about to learn this lesson. He will never forget it, even as decades pass, and the world is changed.
Flight by Erulisse (one L) Galadriel crosses the Helcaraxë.

The October Challenge stories, with the theme of "One picture is worth a thousand words" have now been posted. The prompts for these stories were images assigned to each author. We had eight entries to this challenge.

Through Other Eyes, by Rhymer Bilbo was never seen in the Shire again, but with Aragorn’s help, he can still see the Shire.

Ever Ever On by Dreamflower A hobbit finds himself on another adventure.
Jagged Edges by Ellfine One night during the War of Wrath, King Arafinwë of the Noldor takes his first ride aboard Vingilot.
Beyond the Long River by Kaylee Arafinwiel Young Prince Legolas, training for his father’s army, accepts a dare from another warrior trainee. It does not go as well as Legolas would have hoped.
The Refuge from the Storm - by Larner When young Bergil's horse runs away during a storm, only the King's steed will follow after, and an elderly cottager finds herself hosting two Men unexpectedly.
Above the Clouds - by Himring Berion, a captain of Fingon's guard, survives the defeat of his king in the Nirnaeth Arnoediad and ends up in Gondolin

September 2013: Special Occasion Recipe!Fic Challenge


Kitchen Diplomacy by Erulisse (one L) Aragorn has been crowned and has wed his lady love. The elves who acted as her escort, along with dignitaries from many lands, will be feasted at the first State Dinner before they leave Gondor and return to their own lands. Arwen wants everything to be perfect for her family but is having problems getting the kitchen to understand the concept of uncooked vegetables. Exasperated, she calls upon Aragorn for assistance.
Dwarvish Customs by Alfirineth A slice of life story from the childhood of Elladan and Elrohir at the beginning of the Third Age.
A Gift from Afar by Larner A crossover with Mary Poppins and Nanny McPhee. A sequel of sorts to Why Mums and Dads Leave Home.
Baking Day at Brandy Hall by Dreamflower Disappointed when a promised outing is cancelled, Frodo and Merry are treated to a morning of baking.
The Tart Taste of Summer by Dreamflower When Bilbo passes through Rivendell after leaving the Shire for the last time, he brings Elrond an unusual gift.
