Summary: Aragorn has been called north to Rivendell to consult with his foster brothers and Lord Celeborn, and Merry and his older son Periadoc, now in his tweens, have decided to travel there to see him, deciding to make the journey without any further escort, just the two of them. Perhaps that wasn’t as good an idea as they’d thought. Fall has set in, after all.

(Note: I know real wolves don’t behave this way unless there has been a total dearth in their natural prey; but this is Tolkien’s world after all.)
