You are very kind. I think that in a letter of this sort, dashed off in a manner of speaking - not written out and corrected many times, that subconscious thoughts can often come out. It is why automatic writing can often be helpful in psychoanalysis. In this case, their letter to their mother also made the two of them realize some things about their own futures.
