August 2013: Non-fiction

The August Challenge will once again have the theme "Nonfiction." You will not receive an element for this challenge; rather, we encourage all members to submit essays, research articles, and other nonfictional works related to Tolkien's legendarium.

The August challenge entries will be due Tuesday, August 14 and will be revealed on Thursday, August 16.

Please tag your essay "non-fiction" and " '13 august". Use the following special header for your nonfiction entry: Put "Nonfiction" as the theme, and as "type" indicate whether it is an essay, research, tutorial or other type of nonfiction. Make sure to put the name of your piece and your name in the subject line (e.g. "Sindarin Verbs by Scholar Sue").

I am posting to say I will MAYBE participate this month. I have a couple of ideas for some non-fic I can submit, but it all depends on whether I'll have time to work on it. I am traveling far afield in the coming days, so I don't know if I'll be able to work anything up. However, I am hopeful -- and I can always post it late. ;-)

Just wondering -- is it okay for me to post two pieces for the August challenge? I have two essays I'd like to share. :-)

Also, when is the due date for posting to the queue? Is it tomorrow (which is actually the 13th instead of the 14th)?

Most certainly you may! You are allowed to post as many pieces to a challenge as you wish to!

Challenge fics are "due" on the 14th, although they won't be unlocked until the 16th. In reality, you can post earlier than the 14th if you want to, or anytime up to and including the 16th. (And that's to be sure you are included in the first flurry of notice--as you know, we also take late entries as well--they just don't always get included in the announcements).
