I've always suspected from Halbarad's comments as they prepare to enter the Paths of the Dead that he knew being Aragorn's first standard bearer marked him for death, and certainly being a standard bearer tended to be a very dangerous position upon the battlefield. That Arwen would have had a vision to this effect seemed both possible and likely, particularly as she was her father's daughter as well as her grandmother's granddaughter.
