Late story for the May "Fix the Movies" Challenge!

Author: Cathleen
Title: Jest in Time
Rating: G
Theme: Fix the Movies
Elements: Flower: White Campion
Beta: Dreamflower
Author's Notes: I actually loved Pippin’s line “Where are we Going?”, but I’ve never liked seeing him thought of as a fool. My story is in response to the slights Pippin often suffered, at least in the beginning, of movie verse!
Summary: Why did Pippin make such a foolish statement after the Council of Elrond?

Title: A Golden Flower

Theme: Fix the Movies
Elements: Celandine
Author's Notes: Movie!Frodo really gets run through the wringer. He's given the Quest before he has the emotional maturity to deal with it, every single evil being out there attacks him first (okay, so that's sort of bookverse, too, but at least book!Frodo didn't get flung hither and thither by the Watcher in the Water), he gets taken aside on unnecessary sideplots that involve him holding a sword to Sam's throat, he's carrying a Ring that's considerably more powerful and makes him do all sorts of stupid things, and to top it all off when he's gone through all of that they keep him in the Shire an extra four years without any sort of Evenstar gem because Aragorn shattered it in the Extended Edition. After all of that trauma he must have needed some kind of Elven therapy. This was my attempt to give it to him.
Summary: After Frodo receives a long-dreaded letter in the mail, he must come to a decision.

The May 2009 Challenge stories, with the theme of "Fix the Movies" have been posted. The challenge was to write a story that would explain something from the movies, or fill in a missing scene, or otherwise reconcile a difference between the books and the movies; the individual element assigned to each author was a flower. We’ve had eight entries so far.

May 2009 Challenge: "Fix the Movies"

Where Was Imrahil? by Stefania The city of Dol Amroth faces certain destruction by a Corsair fleet. Prince Imrahil has a plan to save them, but it is fraught with risk.

Strolling with a Hobbit by nancylea57 Bypassing Cormallen leaves out many important healing and reconciling moments. Let’s try this one on.

Repeat by Pearl Took Odo Proudfoot receives a shock

Interlude in Buckland by Dreamflower What happened after the four hobbits got the ferry across the Brandywine, before they headed to Bree?

Last Will and Testament - by Larner For the movies, Sam, Merry, and Pippin accompany Gandalf, Frodo, and Bilbo to the Grey Havens, believing they are merely seeing Bilbo leaving with the Elves. They are surprised to learn Gandalf and Frodo are going as well. The movies end with Sam returning to Rosie, Elanor, and Frodo-lad in Number 3, Bagshot Row.

So, how do we reconcile this with book-verse, and how does Sam come to realize he is now Frodo's heir, and that he inherits Bag End as well as everything else? How does he know what Frodo wishes for him?

On the Stairs of Cirith Ungol by Lbilover When Sam falls asleep, Gollum lays a trap to turn Frodo against Sam. Will he succeed?

Small Heroes, Mighty Deeds by PipMer What happened after Pippin risked his life to light the beacons?

Tip of the Thorn by nancylea57 The Return of the King: The Tower of Cirith Ungol:

Book: “He was naked, lying as if in a swoon on a heap of filthy rags: his arms flung up, shielding his head and across his side there ran an ugly whip-weal.”

Movie: “We best find you some clothes. You can’t go walking through Mordor in naught but your skin.”
(Ps. At this point he’s still in some form of trousers.)A drabble.

I hope you will check out the stories, and let the authors know how you liked them!

And authors, remember that late entries are always welcome!

Title: Where Was Imrahil When Grond Hit the Gate?
Rating: PG
Theme: Adventure
Elements: stonecrop
Author's Notes:

An actor was reportedly cast as Imrahil, Prince of Dol Amroth, but never was used in the film "Return of the King." The screen writers explained that Imrahil appears so late in the story that his inclusion would further confuse movie firsters who were wrestling with Tolkien's similar sounding names. So I decided to "fix" the films by dropping Imrahil and the Swan Knights of Dol Amroth into the movies in a location where they might logically be...and give them a bit of action.

Summary: The city of Dol Amroth faces certain destruction by a Corsair fleet. Prince Imrahil has a plan to save them, but it is fraught with risk.
